BBLUNT Featured In Brand Equity

Now another legacy player, this time in the hair-care space, Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) led by the mass market driven Godrej Expert is readying itself for a shift of sorts, to the premium end of the haircolour market. The company is launching an expansive new hair-colour range Salon Secret under the BBLUNT brand and alongside has also announced Bollywood filmstar Kareena Kapoor-Khan as the face of the brand. GCPL had acquired a 30% stake in 2013 in the BBLUNT brand, the salon chain founded by Adhuna Bhabani. Says Sunil Kataria, business head -India and SAARC Countries, GCPL, "With Godrej Expert Rich Creme at mass end and BBLUNT Salon Secret (the newly launched range) at mass-premium end, GCPL hopes to dominate the creme hair colour market." At Rs 3000 crore, hair-colour is touted to be the fastest growing category in hair-care, and within that the mass-premium hair colour market is pegged at Rs 350 crores. While Godrej Expert has been a market leader in the volume segment, when it comes to the value-play it trails behind the leader Garnier Color Natural, as per market sources.
